What can we cut?

Our CO2 laser is very versatile, allowing us to cut a wide variety of materials. Most common is wood, specifically Baltic birch ply, which is quite popular among crafters. Acrylic is another popular material that comes in many colors. It’s also available in clear, translucent, or opaque. We can even cut material as delicate as paper and card stock. And for those of you who work with fabrics, we can also cut felt and leather.

What can you do for me?

Not unlike a scroll saw, our laser can cut custom shapes in a wide variety of materials, only much more quickly and with higher accuracy. How accurate? Tolerances are within 0.005” of an inch. Each cut piece is identical to the next. And since the material is only touched by light, even intricate designs can be cut from delicate materials. Materials we can cut include hardwood, plywood, MDF, cardstock, paper, veneer, cork, leather, felt, craft foam and acrylic. We do not cut stone, metal, or glass.

Maximum Dimensions

In order to fit in the laser, the maximum shape size we’re able to cut is 23.5” x 17.5”. 23.5” x 17.5”

What about engraving?

Yes! If the material is suitable for engraving, we can engrave a design on each shape we cut.

Material such as wood and acrylic can be cut to a thickness of 0.25”, less for denser materials. 0.25 (¼) inches

Wood veneer laser cut gears

If you have artwork to submit, vector format is preferred. We can convert bitmap shapes to vector but there is an additional charge for getting the laser artwork ready. If the shape is reasonably simple, we’ll also accept hand-drawn images. Once the laser artwork is ready, we’ll send you an artwork proof for your approval. Due to the custom nature of the work, each project must be prepaid before we start. Our preferred method of payment is PayPal. Once paid, material is purchased, and we get started on your project! In some cases, customers prefer to send us the material for cutting if it’s something that is not locally available in our area.
